When do we wash our hands?

Look at your hands. Did you play in the sand? Did you dig a big hole? Then it is time to wash!

We wash our hands after we play outside. We wash them after the toilet. And we always wash them before we eat. Clean hands keep us healthy, and they keep our friends healthy too.

    Narration, 0:26
A smiling girl holds up two sandy hands next to a sandpit in a nursery garden, a bowl of fruit on a table nearby.

Soap and water, step by step

Let us wash our hands together. First, turn on the water and wet your hands. Next, rub the soap in your hands. Make lots of bubbles!

Rub your palms, rub your fingers, and rub the backs of your hands. Then rinse the bubbles away. Last, dry your hands with a clean towel. Well done!

    Narration, 0:33
A small child on a step stool at a low sink rubs soapy bubbles between both hands.

A song to count to twenty

Let us sing while we wash. Rub, rub, rub your hands, rub them round and round. Bubbles here and bubbles there, bubbles all around!

Now let us count. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten. Sing it one more time, and we get to twenty. Hooray! Our hands are clean.

    Narration, 0:37
Three smiling children sing and rub soapy hands at a row of low sinks while an educator watches, with bubbles and musical notes in the air.

    Which picture is right?

Look at the two pictures. In one picture, a boy washes his hands with soap and water. In the other picture, a boy wipes dirty hands on his trousers.

Which picture is right? Point to it. Yes! The soap and water picture is right. Wiping on trousers does not make hands clean. Well done, you chose so well!

    Narration, 0:30
A boy at a low table points to one of two picture cards: a child washing hands with soap, and a child wiping dirty hands on trousers.
